Political situation in Chile (October 2022)

According to the regular report of economy October 2022, on the 11th, TPP11 (Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Treaty) which had been under discussion, was approved by the Senate by a vote of 27 to 10.

However, since President Boric intends to discuss side letters with other countries regarding TPP11, the entry into force is yet to be determined.

On the same report, we may observe the result of opinion poll regarding the new constitution conducted in October as below.:

-Needs for a new constitution

Needed: 71%
Not necessary: ​​27%
Neither: 1%
Don’t know, no answer: 1%

-Types of constitutional amendments

Amend but maintain the current constitution as a base: 46%
Draft a new constitution to replace the current one: 44%
Maintain the current constitution without changing it: 9%
Don’t know, no answer: 1%

The ideal political form seems to be different for each political party, but hopefully the condition will be favorable to the international trade.
