What is strontium carbonate?
- It is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula SrCO3 and has a crystal structure composed of strontium and carbonate ions.
- This compound is also produced as a natural mineral (strontianite), but is generally synthesized artificially from celestite ore.
- It is a white powder, almost insoluble in water, and soluble in acid. When heated, it decomposes into strontium oxide and carbon dioxide.
