Economic situation in Chile (January, 2023)
The Embassy of Japan in Chile (department of Economy) published the regular report of economy (January 2023), which partially includes data from December 2022.
According to the report, the latest economic situation in Chile can be summarized as below.:
The economic activity index for December 2022 recorded -1.0%.
In the mining section recorded 1.2%.
The mining production index for the same month was 1.8%, and copper production decreased by 1.1%.
The export amount in January was 8.92 billion dollars (4.2%), of which mining products raised 3.88 billion dollars (-9.8%, 43.5% of the total), of which copper raised 2.98 billion dollars (-21.6%, 76.7% of the total mining export value).
On the other hand, import value in the same month was $6.33 billion (-16.3%), and the trade balance was a surplus of $2.60 billion.

The amount of trade with China, Japan, and South Korea (December 2022) resulted as below:
With China: exportation 3.75 billion (5.3%), importation 1.47 billion (-45.0%), total amount of trade 5.22 billion (-16.2%)
With Japan: exportation 750 million (13.8%), importation 340 million (3.8%), total amount of trade 1.09 billion (17.0%)
With South Korea: exportation 610 million (38.6%), importation 140 million (7.3%), total amount of trade 750 million (31.6%)
